Re: A moment of silence....In Memory of George Carlin

An excerpt from his "Seven Dirty Words You Can't Say on Television" routine in the early 70's that placed the broadcasting channel of this show in court with the FCC.

Wow. Yes I was heartbroken as well when I heard.
A great mind. A wonderful heart. And glorious laughter.
His presence will be sorely missed.

Re: Gearing up and getting Kara key

March 25, 2008 by mantisa

LOL I just read in the new patch notes that only one person in the raid needs to have the Master Key to open the gates.

Oh Well, I still want the key just incase. ^shrug^

And Primal Nether's no longer BoP. =P

I agree with the sentiments in the link Mc provided. Learning to run instances with others of your level sure teaches you your character roll. The "sink or swim" theory.

My warrior Tizzi has the adavtage of only playing with my hubby's priest Mix and 2 other regular players (used to include our fearless leader as well) and one other random player. This extra sometimes proves to be a good player and fits in the swing, many times its a hot potato that we have to play on our toes to keep the group alive.

It can be a curse or a lesson, depending on how much trouble and how much this extra player does or does not listen.

But weither it's Tizzi and Mix or just some pug Manti picks up, its hit or miss and often teaches you invaluable lessons on thinking quick and dealing with utter chaos. You dont need to put up with extremely poor players but I find that the poor ones get weeded out by the group breaking down and its usually the good ones left that form a solid group.

Even though tempering yourself in the fires of PUG has its benefits, I still hold to a group of friends that have learned how each other plays as the one that can make miracles happen.

There's nothing like the rush of coming out alive in a situation that would in most groups have been a sure wipe. You can not acquire this experience in a run-thru. =P

Gearing up and getting Kara key

March 25, 2008 by mantisa

Just want to post where I'm at presently. I'm halfway thru 69, and will be needing to start getting gear and frags for Kara.

If you're still in the same frag needs, Bry, I'd love to group with you some more. ;)

So far all I know that I need for gear is some Primal Nethers so I can make 3 of the 4 epic items in my Tribal LWing bag of tricks. :)

I'll research more soon.

Oh Mc, I hope your wife is doing better. My best wishes to you both. You are greatly missed in guild. Im glad you're still a voice in the forums tho. ;)*hug*

And yes Listra, Tizzi and Mix miss you in the group. =/ I guess that's why Manti took off running after you. =P Almost caught ya!

Well, Bry I only know the Tribal branch of LW. There's Elemental and Dragonscale branches that do Feral and chain mail patterns respectively.

My posts above show how to get the Tribal branch, and the link that Humba provides at the start of this thread, has a very good description of how and what the other two are and where to get them.

Hope this helps. ;)

Nice, Syll. Are you tribal as well?

Tribal has some nice lvl 70 epics, I'm going to need to go get a few Primal Nethers, when I hit 70. :P

I feel for you Lis.
I ran a guild in EQ and you start to feel pulled in too many directions at once. How much can one person do?

I think enlisting your officers' help to tackle some of the load is crucial and also learning to just say no to somethings. You can not be everything to everyone, nor everywhere, and still stay yourself. You remember the person we chose to be our fearless leader!?! We all love you.

Tell Hell sounds like where you are now. ;(

Let me know if there's anything I may do to help. ;)

Your Faithful Servant,

Re: raid heals

March 18, 2008 by mantisa

Yeah, I'm a Lifebloom, HoT girl. Just some flash backs taking over.

Like:
"Mesmerizing a Hulking Gorilla. You break, you tank it!"
Or:
"Mind Wiping A Crushridge Orc. These are not the casters you're looking for."

Muhaha!
But EQ still hated their players. Give me Wow any day!

Re: raid heals

March 18, 2008 by mantisa

Ok so when you posted on the Pali area. it was Pali on MT all the way
When you posted on the Druid area it was Druid.
And the Priest area.. ok you see the pattern. =P

I've been a raid healer in EverQuest, one of the first RPGMMOs and it was different yet the same in some respects. I dont have 10 man exp, because EQ raids were all 40 man.

gulp

And Verant (the makers) hated us players =P

These add-ons that they're talking about may make this irrelevant,
but the healers would make their own chat channel,
set their macros to have call-outs along with the /cast command with text using %T
IE: "Casting GH on McManager. Mantisa slaps McManager on the head ShaZam! you're healed!"
Also hotkeys set with macros for the MT's: MT1, MT2 etc for fast selection if you're not in the same raid group.

OK, so I haven't been in a raid group except that one time on the newbie field where some guy thought it'd be fun to raid near Darn when we where level 3! =P

I'll shut-up now.

Quest Helper

March 18, 2008 by mantisa

Here's another add-on that Ive just started using recently
Questhelper
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/9924/

It shows you where your quests are and the order that will give you the fastest way in which to complete.
It uses the quests in your log and places them on your world map with "marching ants" running between each one in the best order.
You can click on the world map quest icon and set its priority if you disagrre with this order, as well. ;)

It has helped in conjunction with a random search on
http://thottbot.com/ to clarify the more vague quests.

Re: Leatherworking

March 18, 2008 by mantisa

I'm a Tribal LW.
The gear made by Tribal has stats suited to Restoration and Balance specs.

I stumbled on the quest to learn tribal on accident by following the "Wild Leather" quest chain given by:
Pratt McGrubben in Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas. The same guy that gives the "Mark of Quality" quests near the Inn and FP.

He will give you a series of Wild Leather gear to make, each ending with another Wild Leather pattern needed for part of the chain.

The final quest is "Master of the Wild Leather" and it sends you to:
Telonis, the LW trainer in Darnassus.

You NEED to do this "Wild Leather" chain before the "Tribal Leatherworking" quest will be given to you by:
Caryssia Moonhunter in Thalanaar, Feralas

Thalanaar is located on the extreme eastern point of Feralas on the road to Thousand Needles. beware if you take the road across Feralas, there is a Horde camp the road goes through. You need to go off-roading around it. ;)

She also has 2 non-Tribal patterns you can learn:
~ The Wolfshead Helm needs 225 LW skill
~ Feathered Breastplate needs 250 LW Skill

Hope this helps!
